The Nigerian Investor Value Awards (NIVA) recognizes leaders of public companies who have created sustainable alpha-generating value for their shareholders through their strategic priorities, operating efficiencies, organisational values, and market engagement activities. The Nigerian Investor Value Awards formerly known as the Top 25 CEOs Awards, has been successfully hosted for seven years by BusinessDay and the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

The NIVA Awards recognize two classes of companies:

Under the Listed Companies category, the Chief Executives of quoted companies that demonstrated the most impressive gains share price, profitability, governance standards, ESG measures and shareholder engagement over the course of the 2020 financial year are selected for special recognition.

The second category, the Next Bulls category celebrates private companies that active, informed investors on the Nigerian Stock Exchange have expressed a strong demand to own their shares if their boards ever decide to take them public within thenext 36 months.

This category will recognise companies’ performance based on the share price and financial statement ‘numbers.’

Corporate Governance

This category honours exemplary companies and individuals that go

beyond the basic requirements of governance, regulation and compliance and serve as models for other companies and individuals to emulate.

This category underscores the role that corporate governance and effective board leadership plays in driving a company’s success and a board’s contribution to long-term value.

Engagement

This category will identify those listed companies that have distinguished themselves for implementing the highest standards of disclosure, transparency and fairness indisseminating information.

Sustainability

This category will recognise companies that promote a more cohesive and efficient approach to corporate reporting that draws on different reporting strands and communicates the full range of factors that materially affect their ability to create value over time.

Strategy

This category will recognize companies that have exhibited excellence In the execution of its corporate strategy translating to improved organizational performance and leadership within its

Every year, BusinessDay’s Research & Intelligence Unit (BRIU) and the Awards Review Committee, evaluate more than one hundred and fifty companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) in a thorough evaluation process.

Furthermore, a survey was conducted by BusinessDay analysts on more than 500 respondents comprising equity analysts, retail and institutional investors, financial journalists, sectoral experts, professionals and millennials to determine the most desirable private, indigenous companies that they would like to see listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
